It’s always exciting to me to see the stuff that Wizard’s puts in their special sets…especially the Commander sets. It looks like things may be a little bit more interesting this time around, but I’m not really sure if this is going to make things better or worse.
Enter Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath.
So, I’m kind of torn on how I feel about this card. For one, it’s a new planeswalker. To me, that’s always pretty cool (except for that Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded guy…he sucks). The 3BB cost is reasonable for a commander I think. Really, I feel like this card isn’t really that unreasonable. He’s not the most powerful planeswalker, but he can do some okay things.
I think the part that has me torn is the precedent of using a planeswalker as a commander. I, for one, would love to use one as a commander…but I also think it would really suck to sit across the table from something like a Jace, the Mind Sculptor deck (I know, it’s a bit of a stretch, but just think about how much that would suck).
